Domov About me

About me

I

It was the year 2013. One April morning I decided to start collecting old chainsaws, and this is how my collector’s story began. I found an ad in a classifieds magazine, sat in my car and headed for my first Stihl chainsaw.  If, at the time, anyone had told me that this was the beginning of a new passion, I would have just smiled.
I

was born in 1981 in Ljubljana. I grew up on a farm, so I knew exactly how a chainsaw has to be handled. Since I was a little kid, I’ve always loved everything that smelled like gasoline. When I got my first Tomos moped it was disassembled at least once a week, then reassembled and disassembled once again, just for fun. My interest and zeal for technical things led me to the High School for Engineering and later I also enrolled in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Now I work as an engineering technologist – toolmaker.

M

y collector’s story continues … The first chainsaw was followed by many others, and every time I bought a new one I told myself it would be the last one.  The original plan was to completely restore every chainsaw I bought but after the first restoration I realized that the chainsaw looked amazing and beautiful, but it somehow lost its soul. Each chainsaw that I bought had its own story, and each scratch was a signature that gave it its own personality, so I decided to only clean them and breathe new life into them. Since the offer of old chainsaws in Slovenia was fairly limited, I also started to buy them in Croatia. In 2015 my collector colleague and I also started to buy chainsaws in England and in the United States. My collection now includes about 200 chainsaws made between World War II and the year 1991.

And the story is not over yet…
